About Us Hindi Sangam is a non-profit, registered 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 2005. We are a community organization run and supported solely by its members and volunteers. Our mission is to promote the literature, arts, and culture of the Hindi language through educational programs, cultural events, and artistic initiatives to diverse audiences in Oregon and the larger Northwest region. We have organized a number of Hindi language cultural events always encouraging the local community to participate. As a result, we have been able to organize events such as Kavi Sammelan (recital of original Hindi poems from local authors) which has been broadened to Sahitya Sandhya (literary evening) and has included short plays. We have invited renowned poets, such as Ashok Ckahradhar to Portland. A variety of entertainment shows such as stand-up comedian Amit Tandon and Abhishek Upmanyu have delivered very popular programs in Portland. But the most important and extremely popular event organized by Hindi Sangam is its annual Deepawali Samaroh in November of every year. This is a cultural program that includes dances, plays, skits, quiz shows, songs and a lot of variety for adults, kids and families. This is organized by our volunteers and features all local artists. We have been hosting Deepawali Samaroh non-stop every year, including the pandemic times when we held it virtually.
